Some eyes need more than a standard contact lens. If you've been told contacts won't work for you — or if you've tried them and given up — specialty lenses might change the picture.
Patients come to us for specialty lenses for all kinds of reasons: keratoconus, chronic dry eye, corneal scarring, previous eye injuries, or simply not being able to tolerate regular soft lenses. Whatever the reason, the goal is the same — comfortable, clear vision from a lens designed specifically for your eyes.
Our doctors fit several types of specialty lenses, including scleral lenses, rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses, and hybrid lenses. Each works differently, and your doctor will recommend the right type based on your eyes, your condition, and your lifestyle. The fitting process takes a bit more time than a standard contact lens fitting — but the results are worth it.
Dr. Stern-Green and Dr. Wang have a particular passion for specialty contact lens fitting.
